Question by Scholar86: Does anyone have any tips for how I should start my skateboard ramp building business?
I just started a skateboard ramp making business in Rhode Island called www.RIRamp.com. I made the website, advertised on Craigslist and Facebook, posted flyers at local skateparks, ordered business cards, and I even got in touch with a local skate shop where the owner is a pro skater. BUT, I still haven’t received any orders for any ramps!! It’s really pissing me off. I Don’t worry I’m not giving up, but can anyone give me some more tips on what I should do?

Hey there, please don’t’ shoot the messenger here. I hope you have gotten some good liability insurance. As the minute someone get hurt they will claim the ramp did not have adequate warnings. I don’t mean to add to your problems, but you need to think about it. good luck

Break the problem down into its component parts:
Essentially, you want to make a right angled triangle with a height of 5ft and a hypotenuse of 8ft, so you take pythagoras:

8^2 = 5^2 + x^2
and solve for x
